Dr. Katherine Miller

Dr. Miller is a 2002 WSU graduate with orthopedic and equine emphasis. She purchased the clinic in 2002, then built our current facility and moved the practice in 2005. Her and her husband are both Moscow natives. They have three amazing kids (ages 2, 7 and 9), one dog, one guinea pig, finches, and pigs that will soon be 4-H. Her free time is primarily spent participating in family activities like hiking, biking trails and camping. The clinic is definitely a family affair for Dr. Miller, with support from her in-laws, her husband's business degree and snow removal, and her children helping out on weekends. |

Dr. Gaylynn Clyde
| Dr. Clyde has been with PAWS for four years. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2003 and has been practicing small animal medicine since graduating. She has been living in the Palouse area since marrying her husband Ken, who is a 5th generation wheat farmer. They have two children who are ages 6 and 8. Even as a youth she was passionate about the care of animals, and one of her favorite books was All Creatures Great and Small written by James Harriot. | ![]() |
Dr. Marie Bertman

Dr. Bertman joined the PAWS team in March 2011. She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin Madison after receiving her Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Biomedical Engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering. She worked at a small animal practice in the Chicago area for five years before relocating to Moscow with her family. Her major interests include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. |

Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Kristina Hoffmann
| Kristina graduated from Yakima Valley Community College's vet tech program in 2004 and moved to Moscow that summer to join the PAWS team. She worked as a kennel assistant and technician assistant in TriCities for several years before acquiring her license and is interested in pursuing education for dog training and behavior. Kristina has two Chihuahuas, a Great Pyraneese cross, a Labrador Retriever, three cats and two birds. In her free time she enjoys reading, auditing classes from a local college, baking, playing piano, hiking with her dogs and attempting to keep alive her flower/vegetable garden. | |
Jessie McCleary
| Jessie grew up in Nebraska and attended the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture for Veterinary Technology. She moved to the Moscow area in 2005 and began working with PAWS in March of 2006. In her free time she is a volunteer firefighter/E.M.T. for the Whitman County Fire Department Districts 11 and 12. Her pets include a bulldog named Charlie, a mixed breed named Nos, and the hedgehog Minion. | ![]() |
Kristin Liley
| Kristin grew up in East Wenatchee, Washington. She attended Eastern Washington University for a year before going to Veterinary Technical School and graduated from Pima Medical Institute in Renton, Washington with her AA in Veterinary Technology. Her license was then obtained in May 2011. Kristin has three dogs: a corgi named Lucy, a corgi mix named Moguly and a bassador named Red. In her free time she can be found horseback riding, going to the river, shopping, or watching movies. Currently she is attending WSU for Pre-Veterinary studies. | ![]() |
Claressa Salsbury
| Claressa Salsbury is from Tri-Cities, WA. She received an Associate Degree of Veterinary Technology in 2011 before moving to the Moscow/Pullman area the summer of 2011 to pursue her educational goals at WSU. At home Claressa is slave to two senior dogs, both of which don’t yet know they are old. She enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and camping. |
Technician Assistants
Megan Johnson
| Megan Johnson has been working for the PAWS clinic since August 2011 and has loved every minute of it. She is a recent transplant to the Moscow area, where she lives with her husband and step-daughter. She's currently a certified vet assistant and is going to be chasing her dream of being a licensed technician soon. She loves working with animals and with the crew at PAWS, but when not working she spends her time playing with her kid, the family pooch, and the newest member of the family, a three legged kitten she adopted through PAWS. On the weekends, her family and dog go on hikes in the hills around Moscow, play in the area parks, and make friends with other canines at the Moscow dog park. | ![]() |
Erica Cortes Gau
| Erica joined the PAWS team in August 2011. She loves spending time with animals and enjoys working at our facility. Erica graduated from the University of Idaho in May 2010 with her BSPE in Sport Science/Biomechanics and is currently studying for her certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist. In her free time she enjoys many outdoor activities such as soccer, rock climbing, and fishing. | ![]() |

Rachelle Edwards
| Rachelle graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience and a minor in Psychology from the Honors College of Washington State University in 2010. She has two dogs back home with her family and one teacup poodle named Pipp that lives with her in Pullman, WA. With experience as a veterinary assistant for two years, as a veterinary technician assistant for a summer, as an intern at WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a year and a half, and as a neuroscience researcher at WSU for three years, she now works as a receptionist here at PAWS. | ![]() |
