Palouse Animal Wellness and Surgery traces its roots back to 1995

when Dr. Don Kubasch and his wife, Jan, started Garfield Street Pet Clinic in Moscow. After a career in the military, Dr. Kubasch and family settled in Moscow and he attended WSU Vet School, graduating when he was 50! He worked at another clinic in Moscow for several years and then “retired”. That retirement was short lived because clients loved his excellent veterinary care and bedside manner. Coming out of retirement, he and Jan started GSPC in their house on Garfield Street.

In 2002, the Kubasch’s sold the clinic to Dr. Katherine Miller and her husband Jim.

Miller had worked at GSPC before and during vet school. Graduating from WSU Vet School in 2002, she jumped right into practice ownership that summer. By that time, the house on Garfield Street was way too small because of the great care from Drs. Kubasch and Miller. Dr. Kubasch finally retired in the fall of 2002 and still resides in Moscow.

The Millers built a new clinic on Main Street in 2005 and moved that fall.

The new clinic, designed to American Animal Hospital Association standards, has been a beacon of high-quality vet care for the Moscow, Pullman and surrounding communities since. The Millers are proud to be an official “Main Street” business and one of only two locally owned clinics in Moscow.
